In a Twitter statement, Texas A&M said that classes are canceled for the remainder of the day. An active criminal investigation is underway.
According to ABC News, the shooting occurred at a residence hall that houses freshmen students.
Freshman Larry Cooper told the Dallas Morning News that he left his room in the dorm before the shelter-in-place was announced.
“There’s police blocking the doorways, but other than that we’re all just kind of sitting in and waiting on the news to happen,” Cooper said.
