21 year old passenger dies in Collision at Victoria and Telephone

Ventura Police Department – Incident Press Release

On February 19th at 6:47 AM, the Ventura Police Command Center received numerous 911 calls reporting an injury traffic collision involving a single vehicle at the intersection of Victoria Ave. and Telephone Rd.  Officers and Ventura City Fire personnel arrived on scene and found the driver, a 21-year-old female, suffering from serious injuries.  There was also a 21-year-old male passenger found trapped and unconscious in the front passenger seat.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to VCMC for treatment of her injuries, but is expected to survive.    

The Ventura Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene and is conducting the investigation.  Once further information has been obtained from the investigation, the Traffic Unit will send out an additional press release. 

While the investigation is being conducted, the southbound lanes of Victoria Ave. at Telephone Rd. will be closed to traffic for several hours.  We request the public avoid this area.
