Port Hueneme: Pair arrested for Possession of Firearm at local Denny’s Restaurant

On December 2, 2017 at 4:30 am, Officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department responded to Denny’s Restaurant, regarding a call for service related to narcotics activity inside the business.

Responding officers were told numerous people kept entering the business to speak with an adult male and female who were sitting at a table.  The people would enter the store and only make contact with the couple at the table, leaving quickly after a brief conversation.  Management became concerned about the activity and called the police.

Officers approached the male and female, who were later identified as Galen Koen, 46 and Sylvia Koen, 40 both from Oxnard.  During the investigation Officers discovered Galen had a concealed firearm (Rock Island .45 1911) on his person, along with Heroin, Cocaine, Xanax, Marijuana, and Crystal Methamphetamine. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.  A records check on the firearm showed it was stolen out of Simi Valley.

A records check on Sylvia Keon revealed she had six active warrants for narcotics and firearms related violations.

Galen Koen was charged with 29800(A)(1) PC Convicted felon in possession of a firearm, 25400(A)(2) PC Possession of a concealed firearm, 496 PC Possession of stolen property, 11378 H&S Possession of Methamphetamine for sale, 11375(B)(1) PC Possession of Xanax for sales, 11351(B) H&S Possession of Heroin and Cocaine for sales, 11359(B) H&S Possession of Marijuana for sales, 11364(A) PC Possession of drug paraphernalia and one warrant for narcotics violations.

Sylvia Koen was charged with providing false information to the police officers and six outstanding warrants for narcotic and firearm violations.
