The Camarillo Wings Association is excited to announce that following last year’s COVID-19 related hiatus, the annual Wings Over Camarillo airshow returns for its 40th-anniversary show! The airshow will be held on:
Saturday, August 21, 2021, and Sunday, August 22, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. At the Camarillo Airport, 555 Airport Way, Camarillo, CA 93010
Tickets will go on sale very soon! More information available at www.WingsOverCamarillo.com The theme for this year’s event is “Honoring Our Healthcare Heroes.”
This year’s airshow is presented by Oxnard Auto Center and will honor those health care professionals who put their lives on the line to help us survive the COVID 19 pandemic. This event will be multi- dimensional featuring thrilling aerial performances, classic cars, food trucks, craft beer, a STEM pavilion, and a Veterans Hangar. This historic 40th-anniversary of the unique World War II tribute will also include a recreation of wartime air combat with stunning pyrotechnics of fire and controlled explosions. Military aircraft, past and present, will be on display for an up-close and personal one-of-a- kind experience. Wings Over Camarillo is an event for the whole family!
John Lowe, President of Camarillo Wings Association, stated, “We are very excited to have our local air show again. Last year was very unfortunate, and even though we want to put that all behind us, we felt that we should not forget those who are no longer with us. As well as recognize those who fought tirelessly to keep us safe from COVID. That is why we decided that this year’s theme will be in honor of our healthcare heroes. We need something to distract us from recent events, and Wings Over Camarillo is just what our community needs. Tickets will be on sale very soon. The Camarillo Wings Association is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer, non-profit corporation promoting aviation and its heritage while inspiring youth with aviation-related programs, education, and leadership opportunities. The association produces the annual Wings Over Camarillo airshow in collaboration with the Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing, Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 723, Ventura County Ninety-Nines, and the Ventura County Department of Airports. Nothing quite like the throb of 4 huge Pratt and Whitney engines roaring overhead. Brings back memories of fleets of those plane flying overhead on their way overseas during WWII. The sound interrupted class for the time it took the formations to fly past our school. The teacher just stopped. One, because no one could hear her over the roar of all those engines. Two, everyone had raced to the windows to stare at all those planes in the air. I don’t know about the other boys, but I longed to be in the cockpit of one of those planes. Alas, a boyhood unrealized.
