5 Booked on Weapons Charges in Somis Area

On 02/02/21 @ 11:00 P.M. deputies from the Moorpark Patrol Station responded to a call of “shots fired” in the area of Balcom Canyon Road at Stockton Road. They stopped a vehicle leaving the area which resulted in the arrest of five individuals. Evidence was recovered at the stop which revealed all five occupants, including the juvenile, shot several rounds in the air before being stopped by deputies. Two .40 caliber handguns were found concealed underneath the passenger seat of the vehicle. Several spent casings and live .40 caliber rounds could be seen in plain view at the feet of the passengers of the vehicle.

All of the adult occupants of the vehicle were arrested for possession of a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Chavez was also arrested for drunk driving and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and Garcia was arrested for a local misdemeanor warrant. The juvenile was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and discharging a firearm in a gross / negligent manner. The juvenile was subsequently cited and released to his parents. All of the adults were booked into custody at the Ventura County Jail. Court dates are pending for all subjects.
