Five subjects were arrested for their involvement in a robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime and violation of civil rights.
On 01/14/2021, Camarillo Patrol deputies responded to the 1600 Block of Chapel Drive reference a fight in progress. Once on scene, deputies spoke with the victims along with witnesses and determined one of the suspects made derogatory comments regarding the victim’s ethnicity. The suspects proceeded to batter the victim and took property from the victim. Several of the suspects produced knives and threatened the victims during the altercation. The suspects then fled to a nearby apartment.
Deputies quickly identified the suspects’ apartment and attempted to make contact with the occupants. After a short stand-off, the suspects exited the apartment and were taken into custody.
The suspects were positively identified as being involved and arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime and violation of civil rights.
The suspects were booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of PC 242 – battery and PC 422.6 –violation of civil rights on Hernandez and one count of PC 211 – robbery on Perez for their involvement in the incident. The other three subjects were released from jail pending further investigation.
