    911 Dispatcher to Receive Award

Ventura County Sheriff’s Technical Communications Specialist Sherri Castaneda has been selected as the 2021 Public Safety Dispatcher of the Year. This award is presented to the outstanding dispatcher for their exemplary work and contributions to public safety and the residents of Ventura County. Sherri has been a dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Office since August of 2018.

Sherri is a loving wife and mother of two. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going for evening drives to catch the sunset, and curling up with a good book.

Sheriff’s dispatchers answer, assess, and refer 9-1-1 and business calls that come into the
Sheriff’s Office. They are responsible for dispatching and coordinating patrol response to calls for service and at times, responsible for up to 70 patrol deputies in the field. Dispatchers are among the first responders to emergency incidents and are expected to remain calm, professional, and proficient at all times. Sherri’s teams can attest that she promotes all of the above attributes while working her shift. She is a very reliable employee who is always thoughtful and supportive.

Congratulations to Sherri Castaneda for being selected as the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s 2021 Dispatcher of the Year.
