    911 Dispatcher to Receive Award

    Ventura County Sheriff’s Supervising Technical Communications Specialist Christy Chalfant has been selected as the 2020 Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher of the Year. Christy was selected by her peers to receive this award, which is presented to the outstanding dispatcher for their exemplary work and contributions to public safety and the residents of Ventura County.

    Christy has been a dispatcher with the Sheriff’s Office since June 2001 and promoted to supervisor in 2012.

    Sheriff dispatchers answer, assess, and refer 9-1-1 calls, and business calls that come into the Sheriff’s Office. They are responsible for dispatching and coordinating patrol response to calls for service and at times, responsible for up to 70 patrol deputies in the field. Dispatchers are among the first responders to emergency incidents and are expected to remain calm, professional, and proficient at all times.

    Christy is a proven leader and mentor to her team. She is always thoughtful, supportive, and professional when assisting the citizens of her community. Congratulations to Christy Chalfant for being selected as the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office’s 2020 Dispatcher of the Year.
