Setting Brushfires of Freedom by Don Jans

Camarillo | Former Courthouse Property Dizdar Park & Former Fire Station Property

CAMARILLO, Calif. – The City’s Department of Community Development hosted a series of workshops where the public had the opportunity to learn about and comment on the future re-use of two Old Town properties: Former Courthouse at 2220 Ventura Boulevard; and, Dizdar Park/Former Fire Station at the southeast corner of Ventura Boulevard and Glenn Drive. At the most recent workshop held on September 24th, alternative concept plans were discussed for both sites, where the public had an opportunity to comment and provide feedback. The concept plans have also been made available on the City’s website at:

    https://www.cityofcamarillo.org/departments/community_development/former_courthouse_property.php

The City of Camarillo invites the public to attend the City Council meeting on November 20, 2019, where the City’s consultant will make a presentation to the Council on the feedback received from the public on the concept plans. The public outreach that began in January, where the public has participated in community workshops and shared their ideas for these two Old Town sites will culminate in requesting direction by the City Council for further study of a selected concept plan for each site. Following the November 20th City Council meeting, the City’s consultant will prepare a refined site plan, 3-D rendering, and cost estimate for the selected concept plan for each site. A final report on the steps for implementation and schedule will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council for consideration at a later date.
