Retha Mae Drummond (DOB 3/1/56), of Moorpark, pled guilty to five felony counts of misappropriation of public funds. At the hearing, Drummond paid partial restitution in the amount of $155,810.
Drummond was employed by the Moorpark Unified School District from 1991 until 2016. During the last four years of her employment, she worked in the child nutrition department where she was in charge of purchasing food and drinks for school lunches. Drummond also helped process money collected in association with lunch sales. It is alleged that, from February 2012 through November 2016, Drummond routinely stole a portion of the cash paid by students for food and drinks.
This case involved an in-depth investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation.
Sentencing for Drummond is scheduled for March 18, at 1:30 in courtroom 14 of the Ventura county Superior Court. The maximum prison term to which Drummond can be sentenced is 8 years. Â
