City of Santa Paula | Citywide Street Maintenance Begins May 2020

Santa Paula, CA – As part of the Citywide Street Maintenance Project (Project), beginning May 2020 the City’s paving contractors will be performing road maintenance work on various streets throughout the city. Contractors will be applying crack seals, asphalt rejuvenator seals, micro- surfacing and thin asphalt overlay to existing city streets.

“By ensuring that our streets that are in good condition stay that way, we’ll be able to extend the service life of these streets for years to come,” said Santa Paula Mayor Rick Araiza. “Ultimately, this work will improve the overall ride quality and structural integrity of the pavement on our local streets.”

Construction is anticipated to take place May 2020 through August 2020. In general, hours of operation are scheduled from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. Specific construction details and affected streets for each phase of the Project will be posted online by the City, and residents will be notified in advance when street parking will be affected via door hangers and no-parking signage. It’s important to note that some streets may be temporarily closed off for several hours at a time during construction.

“We deeply appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation during this process,” said Dan Singer, Santa Paula City Manager. “While I understand that street construction can sometimes be an inconvenience, making these types of investments in street maintenance helps reduce the amount of more costly and time-consuming pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction work down the road.”

While Santa Paula’s streets will be greatly improved after this Project is implemented, the City urges everyone to keep in mind that street maintenance and repair is a continuous process.

Therefore, while all this work is occurring, the Santa Paula Public Works team will be hard at work planning for ongoing maintenance projects to help keep the Santa Paula community moving.

Watch out for the City’s contracted paving crews and drive safely. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact the Santa Paula Public Works Department at (805) 933-4212.
