Arts Council of the Conejo Valley seeks members for their Board of Directors

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Arts Council of Conejo Valley (ACCV) announced they are accepting applications for positions on its Board of Directors through Wednesday, July 22, 2020.  Directors serve staggered two year terms.  Of the fifteen positions on the board, 8 are currently opened, with one vacated position serving a one-year term.  Open positions urgently needed are Treasurer, Director at Large, and vacated position Director of Electronic Media.  There are incumbents applying for the positions of Vice President, Director of Events & Hospitality, Director of Information Services and Director of Exhibitions; however, all positions will be voted on by the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley members and all applications will be considered.  Board members meet once each month.

The Arts Council for the Conejo Valley (ACCV) was established in 1969.  During its over four decade span, the ACCV has gone through extensive changes in its programs and services.  Established as a regional Federation of Arts organization that was formed to promote the community’s cultural development, the ACCV has evolved into a membership support agency that also delivers and co-sponsors many cultural programs.  Member services include marketing, technical assistance workshops, and lowered rent at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts.  The ACCV has a history of successful partnership in the community.  It has joined forces and worked toward a common goal with three major partners – the City of Thousand Oaks, the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and the Conejo Valley Unified School District.  The ACCV, in collaboration with Art Trek, created the Conejo Cottontail Project to promote public art throughout the community.

The Treasurer keeps an accurate accounting and set of books of the ACCV, oversees receipt and disbursement of all funds with the approval of the ACCV Board of Directors, presents monthly financial reports to the Board of Directors, serves on the ACCV Finance Committee, sees that an annual financial report is prepared and presented at the Annual Membership Meeting, presents the books for annual independent review, oversees the preparation of all documents required by government agencies related to the corporate business of the ACCV, and oversees the procurement of insurance for the ACCV. This position will work closely with Conejo Recreation and Parks District.

The Director of Electronic Media oversees the website, coordinates all ACCV website, social platforms and mass email campaigns, and preserves the history of the ACCV.

Directors-at-Large assist the Board of Directors in the performance of its functions and work on special projects and committees.

The slate of new Directors will be presented to the Board of Directors by a Nomination Committee prior to the Annual ACCV Membership Meeting, scheduled to occur when it is safe to hold an in-person meeting, or via zoom.  This committee consists of two members of the Board and three Representatives of the ACCV Member organizations.

Interested persons should feel free to reach president, Ed Smart, with any questions at 805.358.3708 or [email protected] and submit their interest and backgrounds via email.

The Hillcrest Galleria is currently closed to the public and will reopen when the current restrictions are lifted.
