The Aug. 7 deadline for local city council and school board races is rapidly approaching with city council candidates needing to file documents with at least 20 signatures (30 is preferable) and have all paper work completed and submitted prior to 5 p.m. on the deadline date.
A candidate statement filing fee costs from $700 to $750 depending on the municipality and must be paid by the filing deadline. The amount of money that candidates can raise from individual donors depends on the community of their residence and how the candidate sets up their campaign race. Each municipality has its own requirements. Most districts have now been divided into sub-districts where the candidate must have residence.
For more information contact the City Clerk if you are running for a council seat or the school district board office.
