On Thursday, Feb. 4, the Oxnard Council will appoint an interim District 2 Councilmember to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mayor ProTem Ramirez.

1. City Attorney Department
SUBJECT: District 2 Council Vacancy.
RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council:
1. Interview the applicants to fill the vacancy in the District 2 City Council office. Candidates
will be allotted 10 minutes each to address City Council.
2. City Council will consider public comments.
3. Appoint an applicant to fill the vacancy until the date of a special election held to fill the
remainder of the term.
4. Adopt a resolution calling and giving notice of holding a special election on November 2, 2021
to fill the remainder of the District 2 City Council office term.
5. Adopt a resolution requesting the Ventura County Board of Supervisors authorize the Ventura
County Elections Division to render specified services to conduct the November 2, 2021 special
election.
6. Adopt a resolution adopting regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining to
candidate statements submitted to the voters at the special election to be held November 2, 2021.
