Metrolink Gets Summer Vacations on Track with New Weekend Service

Itineraries to Help Families and Friends EXPLORE Southern California by Train

From the first Ventura County Saturday service to specially created family-friendly leisure travel itineraries, riders can enjoy a variety of affordable summer fun along Metrolink’s 538 mile-track.

LOS ANGELES – Metrolink invites Southern California residents to take a summer adventure with new weekend service on its Ventura County Line, and a new series of family-friendly summer vacation itineraries that riders can explore as they discover all Southern California has to offer. Adventures can be found at Metrolink’s EXPLORE site.

Over the weekend, adults ride Metrolink for just $10 all day anywhere so the whole family can enjoy safe, affordable, stress-free vacations along Metrolink’s 538-mile system that extends along the coast from Ventura County to as far south as Oceanside, and as far east into Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

    Saturday Travel on VC Line

On May 29, Metrolink will inaugurate a brand-new Saturday service between LA and Moorpark – a permanent part of the schedule for the first time in the agency’s history. The Saturday service will consist of two trains each Saturday, one departing Moorpark at 8:52 a.m. and arriving at Los Angeles Union Station at 10:07 a.m.; and the other beginning at LA Union Station at 4:28 p.m. and arriving at Moorpark at 5:39 p.m. Riders can enjoy a day trip into downtown LA or at destinations in Glendale, Burbank and the San Fernando Valley, and also have the option to travel into Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley on a Friday and travel home on Monday morning.

“With the region opening up and people planning their summer vacations, we are excited to offer families safe and affordable leisure travel options using Metrolink,” said Ara Najarian, Metrolink Board Chair and Councilmember for Glendale. “From the new Saturday service on the Ventura County Line to a wide variety of exciting excursions, Southern California summer adventures are just a train ride away on Metrolink.”

Added Metrolink CEO Stephane Wiggins, “Summer is upon us and we are excited to help families plan their vacations throughout Southern California! Rail trips are safe, fun and allow people to get out of their cars and find relief from all that stress-inducing congestion. They can actually enjoy family travel time as they take in the sights and say goodbye to all those ‘Are We There Yet?’ moments.”
