4th Annual Southeast Ventura County YMCA Gala – Sept. 18

Westlake Village, Calif. (July 20, 2021)–The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is hosting its 4th Annual Gala on Saturday, September 18 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village. This year’s theme is “Imagine.”

The YMCA will honor Chuck and Melinda Carmichael, proud long-time residents of Simi Valley. “Chuck and Melinda are true servant leaders who humbly support many causes and organizations in our community,” says Ronnie Stone, President/CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA.  “Their commitment to giving back is inspiring to all those who them.”  The Carmichaels will be honored with the Joel and Frances McCrea Memorial Award.

In addition, the YMCA will present Community Leadership Awards to volunteers who have given of themselves for the betterment of others and the community.

The evening, which begins at 5:30 p.m.,  features cocktails, entertainment, live and silent auctions, four-course dinner and after-party.

In 2019, the event raised over $750,000. Gala proceeds will support YMCA classes and programs including Find My Genius, a no-cost summer achievement gap program serving low- and moderate-income students who are not reading at grade level.

“When we had to shut our doors because of the pandemic, we immediately offered over 130 online fitness and enrichment classes for kids and adults each week that were free and available to the community,” says Stone. “We began a distance learning support program called the Key Academy that helped 346 students get through a very challenging school year. This summer, Find My Genius enrolled 240 young scholars from the Conejo Valley and Las Virgenes school districts–the most ever. All these programs and more were made possible thanks to our generous donors.”

The Southeast Ventura County YMCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building positive relationships, impacting lives and strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living programs and social responsibility. It serves the Conejo Valley, Simi Valley, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Agoura Hills and Moorpark through its three branches.

The cost of the gala is $350 per person and $650 per couple. For more information, sponsorship opportunities and to purchase tickets, go to http://www.sevymca.org/gala.
