    SWAT Team arrests suspected dealer

    NEWS RELEASE

    During the month of March 2022, the Oxnard Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) began an investigation into Miguel Zamora regarding selling narcotics in the City of Oxnard. During the investigation, detectives learned that Zamora was living at a residence in the 1400 block of Kingswood Way. Detectives developed enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for Zamora and his residence.

    With the assistance of the Oxnard SWAT Team, K9 Capone, K9 Rocky, and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Unit (UAV), DEU Detectives executed a search warrant at Zamora’s residence. Leonel Ortiz was contacted after exiting the residence and found to be in possession of methamphetamine for sale. Ortiz was also detained at the residence. During a search of the residence, detectives located a large quantity of methamphetamine and further evidence of narcotics sales.

    Leonel Ortiz was placed under arrest for possession for sale of methamphetamine, a felony. Miguel Zamora was also placed under arrest for possession for sale of methamphetamine, a felony. Zamora is a convicted felon from a previous narcotics sales arrest. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail with a bail request of $250,000. The investigation into Zamora and the narcotics activity occurring at his residence is ongoing.
