Westlake Village, Calif.—The three branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA are taking early registrations for their summer day camps. Camps are from June 14 through August 13 at the Conejo Valley YMCA and Yarrow Family YMCA and from June 7 through August 6 at the Simi Valley Family YMCA. Discounted pricing will be in effect until April 1.

Campers can attend full time (five days a week) or part time (three days a week) for all nine weeks or selected weeks. At Simi Valley YMCA, summer camp is offered to K-5th graders and teen camp (Leadership-In-Training) is offered to 6th – 8th graders. At Yarrow Family YMCA and Conejo Valley YMCA, summer camp is offered to TK -5th graders and teen camp is offered to 5th – 8th graders.

“It’s the ‘best summer ever’ is a common phrase heard among children who attend the YMCA Summer Camp programs,” says Jaime Gonzalez, senior director of Childcare and Day Camp. “With activities like archery, field games, STEAM activities, sports, arts and crafts and on-site shows, new adventure awaits for all! kids craving connection, fun and play. The Y offers a summer program that safely does just that.”

Camp hours are 9:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with extended care available at no additional charge from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19, the Y is taking many precautions to ensure the safety of the children and staff.

“We used these same safety procedures at last year’s summer camps with great success,” says Gonzalez. “Kids were able to interact, play and have fun safely.”

The Conejo Valley YMCA (serving Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Moorpark and Santa Rosa Valley) is at 4031 North Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, the Yarrow Family YMCA (serving Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park) is at 31105 East Thousand Oaks, Blvd., Westlake Village and the Simi Valley Family YMCA is at 3200 Cochran Street, Simi Valley.

Why is summer day camp allowed, and many schools either closed or shortening their days. What kind of a world are we living in? #nocommonsenseinpublicschools
