Alert manager at Topper’s Pizza thwarts robbery attempt in Oxnard

Friday evening just after 9pm Oxnard Police officers responded to Toppers Pizza at 2100 Saviers Road regarding an attempted robbery that had just occurred. A man in his mid 20’s, 6-0, thin to medium build, wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt, light blue surgical mask, light colored snow gloves, light blue jeans armed with a silver colored semi-automatic handgun entered the business, waited in line for a short time, and then passed a note to the cashier. The manager was suspicious because of the suspect’s appearance and he also observed a gun in the suspect’s waistband. The manager activated the robbery alarm, alerted his employees to the danger, and the suspect fled before getting any cash. The suspect was last seen in a small white compact vehicle southbound on San Marino from Iris.
