Also on the November ballot? Lots and lots of school bonds

California government schools just reported on their standardized results.  At best they reached a 60% passage—with 50% of the students.  By any measure, this is a massive failure.  Instead of fixing the curriculum and system, the educrats demand more money, to be spent the same way.  Oh, did I mention that students of color get VERY low grades on the standardized test.  This is called racism.

“Californians in November will weigh billions of dollars’ worth of ballot measures for low-income housing, children’s hospitals and more. But one of the biggest asks will be mostly invisible to most voters—100 or more local proposals to sell bonds for school construction projects that, if passed, could total more than $12 billion in local borrowing in coming years.

About 90 school districts across the state have construction bond measures on the Nov. 6 ballot, asking local voters to approve borrowing for projects from security upgrades in the wake of the Parkland, Fla., mass shooting to air conditioning to the removal of lead from school drinking water. Another 13 districts are asking voters for harder-to-pass parcel taxes, which require a two-thirds majority for approval, and which total about $43 million.”

Maybe we need to fix the school before we throw more money at them.  What do you think?

Enough with the school bonds. As the article rightly states, “Maybe we need to fix the school before we throw more money at them”. Many people do not even know what a bond is, that it must be repaid with interest and EACH BOND may affect us for 20 to 30 years! As a home owner, I am tired of paying for schools that I don’t go to and my children don’t go to. I am in my late 50’s and my daughters are out of school and college and have careers. STOP taxing me. I have paid for the failing schools for 38+ years. Leave us tax payers alone. Stop with the parcel taxes also. NO to bonds. Vote these bonds down until they can show that they deserve the money. I am in the private sector and must earn my salary or I am fired. Many of the people running our schools should be fired. No more money.
