UPDATE —ARREST OF SUSPECT –Apparent gang shooting in Santa Paula –5 wounded

medical arial,sans-serif;”>** UPDATE AS OF 07/18/15 at 10pm Saturday night : Further investigation in this case has resulted in the arrest of a suspect, Eric Medrano age 22 of Santa Paula, for attempted murder. Medrano was one of the initial reported “victims” however through investigation he was determined to be a suspect. After being medically cleared Medrano was transported to Santa Paula Police Department for processing and later to Ventura County Main Jail. A bail increase was submitted to increase it from $500,000 to $1,000,000 which was approved. Medrano was also on active parole and a no bail parole hold was placed as well.

The medical status of the other 4 shooting victims are as follows: one in critical condition in ICU, while the other three victims have non-life threatening injuries.

Early Saturday morning at approximately 2:47am officers responded to the area of Ojai Road and High St.on a report of shots being fired.

When officers arrived they located three gunshot victims and there was a large group of people who had just exited a party bus. Through investigation it was determined a confrontation occurred when the party bus was allowing people to exit. During the confrontation a shooting occurred with the suspects fleeing the area in a vehicle. While investigating the scene it was reported from local hospitals that two additional subjects had been shot bringing the total five victims. They are all males ranging in age from 20-35 years.
