Art Comes Alive at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum

    News Release

The Channel Islands Maritime Museum (CIMM) is pleased to present its ever-popular Art Comes Alive event on August 19-20, 2023.

Paintings & ship models come to life with live maritime characters from the ages at Art Comes Alive. Museum docents, museum supporters, and local actors get into character and bring the Museum’s famous collection to life.  The event allows guests to visit with kings and queens, rebels and artists, and sailors and scientists- historic and fantasy characters, local and worldwide. The event will also be celebrating 150 years of Ventura County’s Maritime Legacy with special portrayals of local people who played important roles in VC history. Prizes will be awarded to guests for meeting, talking, and asking questions of Museum characters. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy the CIMM photo station which will feature costumes, hats and props for the entire family to try on and pose with.

Art Comes Alive will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th from noon until 4:00 pm with the final tour starting at 3:30 pm on both days. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for museum members and seniors, and free for active military families and up to five family members. Youth under the age of 18 are also free but must be accompanied by a ticketed adult, senior, or active military family member. No more than four children per ticketed adult, senior or active military member. Tickets can be purchased through the Museum’s website at www.cimmvc.org or at the door. Pre-purchasing tickets is strongly recommended due to high expected attendance for this fun-filled event.
