As coronavirus cases rise, California governor says he could start reeling back some reopenings

As California deals with an increase in coronavirus cases, Gov. Gavin Newsom is warning he could start reeling back some of the reopenings if the virus gets out of control.

At a news conference on Monday, Newsom said tightening stay-at-home restrictions isn’t in his plans just yet. But he said his administration is prepared to do that if the coronavirus cases keep trending upward.

He fully expected to see more positive cases of coronavirus with loosened restrictions and more testing.

But Newsom said he is worried about the direction the state is going: 35 percent of all new positive cases of coronavirus in California have happened in the last two weeks – that’s nearly 47,000 new cases.

Could the increase in testing be giving people the wrong conclusion?

What IF the testing only exposes that we have had more people exposed to the virus than we thought originally? The fact that we are not seeing a major increase in deaths may suggest that we aren’t having an increase of cases; just cases we didn’t know we already had.

Could the increase in testing in California is a tool in the hands of a governor that wants to affect an election and blackmail the current federal administration into providing funding for a State that has failed to manage a budget properly under the guise that everything is related to the virus?

This is a direct justification of power grabs and money. The government is not here to help us. They can only give us our own money back or give us services that we have already paid for. They don’t have resources to allocate that they didn’t first take from us. I am better prepared to decide for myself how my money is spent. The Stimulus Check was our own money that we will pay back with interest. THEY made that decision and I didn’t ask for more debt. Our government is not in tuned to our needs at all. They can only tax and spend and now practice fiefdom.

It’s a power move on guv nuisance part, along with an attempt to hold the current federal administration hostage for unlimited funding, all under the guise of a State emergency.

Really…I see a lot of power seized during this pandemic that was so unethical and now debt after 3 months of Stay Home, threatens to come in YOUR business and shut it down again? No refunds on rent, business license or taxes.
Help is offered by way of more debt with a government loan paid in 30 years.
Please explain the logic of this kind of take over?

If most “cases” resulted in death or hospitalization then Gonzo Gavin may have a point. But cases are with the younger, healthier crowd, and they will recover quickly.
After that group shows nothing to worry about, what will Gavin think of next? A sharp rise in sniffles necessitates more Health Depts. control?

If Newsom were speaking about Ventura County, the 35% figure would be 45%.
