Asian American Market Robbed at Gunpoint on Christmas Day | Ventura

On December 25th at 7:54 PM the Ventura Police Department Command Center received a 911 call from an employee of the Asian American Market, 1007 E. Santa Clara St., reporting that an armed robbery had just occurred. The suspect, described as a Male, 20’s, wearing a black jacket, black pants and a black mask over his face, was armed with a handgun, was last seen fleeing Northbound on Laurel St. from the business on foot.
During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect entered the business and approached the one employee behind the counter. The suspect brandished a gun at the employee and demanded money. The employee ran to the rear of the business to hide. The suspect grabbed the cash register and pulled it from the counter and fled the store taking with him the register and an undisclosed amount of money.
Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The employee was not injured as a result of this crime.
