ORDER OF THE VENTURA COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER

AMENDING HEALTH, ORDERS TO ALLOW ALCOHOL-SERVING ESTABLISHMENTS TO REMAIN OPEN UNTIL 11:00 PM

Effective Date of Order: September 22, 2020

Preamble.  By issuance of local health orders dated July 2 and July 16, 2020, the Ventura County Health Officer limited the operations of bars, pubs, brewpubs, breweries, wineries, wine tasting rooms and other establishments that serve alcohol on-premises, including the requirement that such operations be closed to the public between 10:00 p.m. and 5 :00 a.m. The Ventura County Health Officer has determined that bars and similar operations now may remain open until 11:00 p.m. without materially compromising public health and safety. The purpose of this amendment is to implement this change.

Order. Section 1 of the Ventura County Health Officer’s order dated July 2, 2020, as previously amended by the Ventura County Health Officer’s order dated July 16, 2020, is hereby repealed and replaced with the following provision:

    1. Establishments that sell alcohol for consumption on premises. Under current State health orders, all bars, pubs, brewpubs, breweries and other businesses in Ventura County licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on their premises must close indoor operations, but may open outdoor operations if they offer sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals; and wineries and wine tasting rooms may open outdoor operations even if they do not offer sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals.

Additional restrictions on outdoor operations. In addition to complying with all applicable State orders and guidance, bars, pubs, brewpubs, breweries, wineries, wine tasting rooms and other business that sell and/or serve alcohol for consumption on- premises must comply with the following local requirements:

    • only members of the same household may sit together at a single table, and
    • the maximum time a patron may be on the premises is 1 and ½ hours.

Effective date and time. This amendment to Ventura County Health Orders shall become effective and operative at 8:00 a.m. on September 22, 2020, and will continue to be in effect until rescinded, superseded or amended in writing by the Health Officer.

    IT IS SO ORDERED:

     Robert Levin, M.D.

    Ventura County Health Officer

If I were the propriator of a bar, pub, brewpub, brewery, winery or wine tasting room I wouldn’t be so glad that I can keep my business open one more hour in the day, SO ORDERED!

What’s one more hour really going to affect my bottom line?
