Bicyclist struck in Oxnard hit and run dies — Driver caught and arrested
viagra arial, view sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On June 24, 2016, at about 7:12 a.m., officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS responded to a hit and run traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The collision occurred on Lakehurst Street north of Janetwood Drive.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the 2001 Ford Expedition collided into the bicyclist riding a Giant Rincon mountain bike near the intersection. After the collision with the bicyclist, the Ford Expedition swerved to the opposite side of the road and collided with a tree. The driver fled the scene on foot and was located in the area moments later. The driver, a 17 year old Oxnard resident was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, and was later arrested. The pedestrian was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Alcohol and/or drugs may have been factors in the collision. The collision is still under investigation.
