Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Announces New Chief Executive Officer

Agoura, CA – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of their new CEO, Dr. Crystal Nāone.

Before joining the Boys & Girls Clubs, Dr. Nāone served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Native Pacific Education Culture (INPEACE) where she was responsible for the overall vision and direction of the statewide agency. Her duties included board relations & development, strategic planning, fund development and visioning for the organization’s eight programs. Under her leadership, INPEACE effectively served more than 6,400 annually with early childhood education, workforce development, Hawaiian language and culture programming.

Her experience has also included a number of educational positions throughout Hawai‘i including serving as a capacity building consultant for The Learning Coalition, a foundation dedicated to improving education in Hawai‘i’s public schools. Other positions included the Community Relations & Development Director and Preschool Programs Director at Keiki O Ka ‘Āina Family Learning Centers. Prior to that she was the Executive Director of The Palehua Project, where she created and implemented a leadership program for youth ages 16-22. Her background also encompasses serving as a Hawaiian Immersion Teacher in grades kindergarten through eighth for the Hawai‘i Department of Education.

Dr. Nāone has served on several leadership boards including the Kamehameha Publishing Board, the World Indigenous Peoples Higher Education Consortium’s Accreditation Board, the Hawai‘i Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice and the Alliance for Strong Families and CEO Council. She is passionate about grassroots common-sense solutions to complex issues by determining root causes. She promotes this philosophy and community well-being through publications, as well as through local, national and international advocacy. Dr. Nāone received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 2008. She has been the recipient of many individual and company leadership awards throughout her career and has served on numerous boards for non-profit organizations, giving her time and expertise to the community.

Born in Laguna Beach, California, she now returns to Southern California and resides in Westlake Village. Dr. Naone and her husband have 3 boys, their youngest is attending Oaks Christian High School, their eldest son just graduated from Pepperdine University and their middle boy is in the construction trade in Hawai‘i.
