The Santa Paula Art Museum is delighted to present “Building History: The Story of the Museum’s Home,” opening Saturday, March 5, 2016. The exhibition explores the fascinating history of the Limoneira Building, from its beginnings as the prestigious headquarters of the Limoneira Company to its current role as the elegant home of the Santa Paula Art Museum. The exhibition will premiere with a reception on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $10.00 for museum members and $15.00 for the general public.

Designed and constructed in 1924 by famed local architect Roy Wilson, Sr., the Limoneira Building has long held an important place in this community. The exhibition will tell the building’s story through art, artifacts, historical photographs, original architectural plans and drawings, and a look at Wilson’s career as the first licensed architect in Ventura County. The show will also reveal how the classical two-story structure was transformed from office place to museum in 2010.

“The building really does have a story that is worth being told, for its history, for the people who worked here, and as a handsome work of art and architecture,” says Museum Executive Director Jennifer Heighton. “The exhibition will provide a portrait of this beautiful and meaningful landmark.” “Building History: The Story of the Museum’s Home” runs through July 10, 2016.

The Santa Paula Art Museum is located at 117 North 10th Street in downtown Santa Paula. The Museum’s regular hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. Regular admission is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and is free for museum members and students.
