The incident began as a call for service in the area of Crown Hill Drive in the unincorporated area of Simi Valley also known as the “Santa Susanna Knolls.”  Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 call from the reporting party that two unknown males had accessed the property and had attempted to open several doors to the home and garage.  The reporting party, who was offsite, stated she was watching the incident unfold via a wireless surveillance camera system. Moorpark Special Enforcement Detectives were able to contact one of the property tenants and get real time updates of the suspects’ actions and location.  Deputies from the Moorpark Police Station along with officers from the Simi Valley Police Department quickly arrived and surrounded the residence and took McWilliams-Smith and Rosan into custody without incident.  Subsequent to the arrest, deputies located McWilliams-Smith’s vehicle nearby.  During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a lock picking kit, a crow bar and latex gloves.

McWilliams-Smith and Rosan were arrested for residential burglary and possession of burglary tools and booked at the Ventura County Jail.  Both are currently in custody awaiting trial with bail set at $50,000.00
