CA does full-court press on “Gun Control”

Editorial.2By George Miller

The California Senate pushed through 10 “gun control” bills yesterday and sent them to the Assembly for further action. A summary of the bills:

  • AB 156: Bans common ammunition purchases, creates a DOJ database of ammunition owners.
  • AB 857: Requires serialization of ALL unserialized firearms, both retroactively and moving forward.
  • AB 1135: Bans common and constitutionally protected firearms that have magazine locking devices, such as “bullet buttons”.
  • AB 1511: Criminalizes loaning of firearms between personally known, law-abiding adults.
  • SB 880: Bans common and constitutionally protected firearms that have magazine locking devices, such as “bullet buttons”.
  • SB 894: Victimizes victims by criminalizing the failure to report lost and stolen firearms within a short time frame.
  • SB 1006: University of California taxpayer funding for gun control research.
  • SB 1235: Bans common ammunition purchases, creates a DOJ database of ammunition owners.
  • SB 1407: Requires serialization of ALL unserialized firearms, both retroactively and moving forward.
  • SB 1446: Retroactively bans possession of lawfully acquired, standard capacity magazines that can hold over 10 rounds.

A reminder:

Courts have over and over reinforced the right of the people to keep and bear arms, although it often took higher court appeals to confirm that. Yet, legislatures have tried over and over again to constrain or even eliminate those God-given rights to self-defense, which our Founders and many who followed them, acted to confirm and protect.

Skipping over, for a moment, that the aforementioned bills are unconstitutional, they would not even fulfill the objectives of their rogue legislator sponsors. Instead, they would mainly restrain law-biding people, while criminals simply ignore such “laws.”

Please keep in mind that the gun murder rate has plunged by half since 1992, even as the number of guns in our country has skyrocketed- up by 100 million just since Obama has been in office. A closer look shows that the biggest problem by far is in about 100 metropolitan areas, mostly run by “gun control” advocates. We’ve all heard about Ferguson, Chicago, Detroit, DC, Baltimore, Oakland, etc. So, maybe the problem isn’t guns. Maybe it’s people, mores, government.

Speaking of “gun control” sponsors, consider that Leland Yee, the former lead promoter of “gun control” in the CA Senate, was convicted of ….. gun trafficking. We just learned this week that he was still being paid, by us, of course. Folks, we can’t make up stuff like this. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I hope that many of you will join us in opposing these bills in the Assembly, with Governor Brown– and if necessary, legal action all the way up to the Supreme Court. And speaking of the Supreme Court, Hillary Clinton has vowed to eliminate the Second Amendment, via “executive orders,” legislation and Supreme Court appointments. So contact your Assembly member, Governor Brown and donate to/support organizations which defend your constitutional rights. Firearms Policy Coalition, CALGuns Foundation, NRA are good candidates.

While we were writing this, the NRA announced that they endorsed Donald Trump for President, on national TV at 11:40 am PDT, at their convention. He has pledged to support the Founders’ original intent of the Second Amendment. He told the assembled crowd today that the Second Amendment is on the ballot in November– and it is, figuratively.

The NRA and other Second Amendment organizations realize that they are in an existential struggle for their cause, that who is elected in November to the Presidency and legislature and subsequent court appointments will hold the key to whether they will succeed or fail. People like Hillary Clinton, Gavin Newsome and Kamala Harris have vowed to take away your rights.

So, regardless of your candidate likes/dislikes, suck it up and vote to preserve our Constitution!

Those in opposition to our owning guns need to be kept from being elected to the offices they are aiming for. Kamala Harris is a stooge for the Bank of America and was responsible for the shutting down of two law offices that were going after Bank of America. When she ran for the office of the State Attorney General, Bank of Amercia funded some of her election money. She actually committed a crime by going after those who were helping people get their money for the homes that were stolen by the BofA. That was a conflict of interest. If she does that at the State level, imagine what she will do if elected to a federal level.
