CA Republican Chair Candidate Updates Action Plan for Troubled Party

By George Miller

Steve Frank, one of two major candidates remaining for the position of California Republican Party Chair, shared his latest plan with us. We now share it with you. As far as we know, he is the only candidate to have released a formal written overview plan.

The state Republican Party has hit hard times, with voter registration being under 25% of the electorate, a super-majority of Democrats in power in Sacramento and the vast majority of US House reps and both US Senators Democrats. Donations and enthusiasm have plunged. Messaging is confused and not well-perceived by much of the electorate, if it is even received. In short, things are bleak.

Frank is an old but still enthusiastic party warhorse, who knows the organization, history and its machinations,  the issues and where the bodies are buried- inside and out. He’s very active, has been a vocal party critic and idea man, via several radio shows he does, speaking and writing throughout California and editing the California Political News & Views. He’s also a professional political consultant, handling mostly downticket races with notable success for a very progressive state.

Some say he has been there so long that he must be part of the problem. But, reading his words does not evoke images of a party hack.
