Caforio Claims To “Outraise” Knight | Congressman Knight’s Office Responds

EDITOR NOTE: Citizens Journal strives to be fair and balanced in what it publishes. So, when a press release from Bryan Caforio’s office about campaign fundraising was received, the Journal contacted incumbent Congressman Steve Knight’s campaign office for a similar press release and/or comment. The 2018 primary elections is eight months away and mid-term elections on November 6, 2018 is just over a year from now.

BRYAN CAFORIO CAMPAIGN PRESS RELEASE: Continuing to build off his strong momentum since launching his campaign in May, Caforio outraised vulnerable incumbent Steve Knight by bringing in $241,103. Caforio has now raised $464,122 in just four and a half months.

While Caforio’s grassroots campaign raised 98% of contributions from individuals in Q3, Rep. Knight continues to depend on special interest money from the corporate gun lobby, pharmaceutical companies, oil and gas corporations, and other corporate PACS, which together account for nearly 75 percent of Knight’s contributions. With Knight unable to find individuals willing to support his campaign, just last week the Trump Administration sent Mike Pence to host a fundraiser for Rep. Knight in Beverly Hills—with tickets going for as much as $100,000apiece.

Republicans Panic

National Republicans know Caforio’s strength and continued momentum spells trouble for Knight, and they are already showing their desperation. In August, National Republicans launched attack ads targeting two Democratic challengers in the state of California, including Caforio. Ironically, in attempting to attack Caforio, National Republicans actually highlighted a cornerstone of Caforio’s campaign—his support for Medicare for All—and called even more attention to Knight’s vote to strip healthcare from tens of thousands of his constituents.

Caforio Racks Up Local Endorsements

As Caforio’s campaign continues to grow, local officials and groups have united behind him, with more than 25 local officials in the district, the Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, and the Southeast Antelope Valley Initiative all endorsing his campaign. Further, as Caforio proposes innovative solutions to revitalize our economy and build a system that benefits working families rather than billionaires and bankers, a dozen labor unions whose members live and work in the 25th District have endorsed Caforio, including, most recently, National Nurses United. These working men and women—including nurses, aerospace workers, letter carriers, bus drivers, electricians, and so many others—make up the backbone of the local economy and continue to build a united coalition for change within the 25th District.

Field Operation in Full Swing

A full 16 months before the election, Caforio opened his first field office in the Antelope Valley, followed by a second field office in Santa Clarita, and he already has a Field Director coordinating volunteer efforts throughout the community. While Congressman Knight relies on dark money super PACs to defend his harmful and out of touch positions, Caforio’s grassroots supporters aren’t wasting any time engaging voters and spreading Caforio’s positive message to every corner of the 25th District.

POLITICAL CONSULTANT, STEVE KNIGHT CAMPAIGN FOR RE-ELECTIONCongressman Knight continues to have more money in the bank than all three of his opponents combined.  The three Democrats will end up spending it all as they battle for second place in June 2018.

The three Democrats also are spending half of what they raise so their net return is not as high.
So who would you rather be?  The candidate with the most money in the bank (Knight) or the candidate that works inefficiently (Caforio).
Congressman Knight will continue his life long commitment to the community.
