California Dispatches Goats to Eat Brush, Prevent Wildfires

California firefighters are enlisting help from some unusual allies to prevent more deadly wildfires from ripping across the state — goats.

The Ventura County Fire Department is releasing hundreds of goats next week north of Los Angeles to eat dead brush that could become fuel for a fires.

A great choice. Goats will eat most any vegetation, including poison oak, with no problem to their health. After eating poison oak, even their milk is safe to drink.

There was a young man in Newbury Park, many years ago, that financed his way through college by providing a rent-a-goat service during fire season. He just followed the enforcement agents that left citations to control the weeds on private property and left his business card with the citation.
