California Plastic Bag Ban May Soon Qualify For Ballot

search times;”>The grocery stores in California signed off on the plastic bag ban—to save the environment. What they did not mention is that without plastic bags, the consumer will be forced to buy reusable bags (that will have bacteria and diseases associated with them) or buy at ten cents a bag, paper bags. This will create a $700 MILLION profit center for the stores. Yup, grocery stores are going green—with YOUR money. Wonder why environmentalists are not opposed to paper bags—since that means cutting down trees? In a year or two these will also be outlawed.

“Opponents of the ban have already raised nearly $3 million to gather 500,000 signatures. The majority of the funding has come from plastic bag manufacturer, Hilex Poly, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

Mark Murray, a member of Californians Against Waste, supports the bag ban. He said California will still have a host of local bag bans in place no matter what happens with the initiative.

When this is on the 2016 ballot will voters approve freedom or will they make Al Gore richer?
