California Writers Club San Fernando Valley
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., (March 25, 2020) – Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, The San Fernando Valley Chapter of the California Writers Club will not meet in April. The organization typically meets on the first Saturday of the month from 1 – 3 p.m. in the Saban Community Room of the Motion Picture and TV Fund, 23388 Mulholland Drive.
“As a precaution and to help prevent the possible spread of the coronavirus in our community, we have canceled our meeting in April. We are following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on not hosting events which could expose our members, speakers, and the general public to this disease,” says Chapter President Bob Okowitz.
The chapter’s March meeting was canceled after management at the Motion Picture and TV Fund closed its space to the public, and chapter’s Executive Board will determine the status of the May meeting at a later date.
“The health and welfare of our meetings’ attendees must remain paramount,” Okowitz says. “Some of our members are over 70 years old and could be at a higher risk for community transmission of COVID-19. We would rather err on the side of caution and temporarily cancel our monthly meetings instead of potentially exposing these members to this virus.”
