Setting Brushfires of Freedom by Don Jans

    Calling All Faith Leaders

As most of you know, I have worked closely with Oxnard’s faith leaders over the past few years. We know that our faith communities are uniquely qualified to make our city safer and stronger.

One of our primary goals within the police department is to reduce crime. But, improving community safety also requires a police department that understands it has a bigger role. We must also maintain the trust and respect of our residents. Our community must view us as legitimate.

We value the work that you are doing in our community. I invite you to attend a special Faith Leaders Service. This service is open to leaders from all faith institutions in our city. The service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. at Calvary Chapel of Oxnard located at: 2001 Eastman Avenue, Oxnard, CA 93030.

Our theme this year will be CommUnity. This will be a socially distanced event and space is limited. State and county COVID guidance will be followed. Please reserve your spot by calling Nellie Estrada at (805) 385-7624 or by emailing her at: [email protected]. If you have any questions please contact Paul Carganilla, Community Affairs Manager, at (805) 342-8292 or Community Relations Commissioner, Adam Lopez at (805) 450-2591. We look forward to seeing you.

    Sincerely,

    Scott Whitney

    Chief of Police
