Investigators arrested (S) Gregory Gilbreath after he set fire to bushes in the 700 block of East Ponderosa Drive, in Camarillo.
On March 24, 2021, at about 7:52 AM, the Ventura County Fire Department received a call of a structure fire in a shopping center at the intersection of Ponderosa Drive and Arneill Road, in Camarillo. Fire department personnel arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire spread from bushes and the flames caused moderate damage to the exterior of a commercial structure. Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Camarillo Patrol Station responded and conducted an investigation into the origin of the fire and determined it was deliberately set.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, arson investigators from both the Ventura County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office responded to the location. Their investigation determined the fire was the result of arson.
Gregory Gilbreath was quickly identified as a suspect in the crime. Fifty six year old Camarillo resident Gregory Gilbreath was arrested for one felony count of arson and booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Gilbreath remains in custody on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on March 26, 2021.
