Camarillo Citizens for Term Limits Collects Enough Signatures to Qualify Term Limit Measure

Camarillo Citizens for Term Limits is proud to announce that we have successfully collected 5,370 signatures; well beyond our goal of 4,100. We have submitted the petitions to the City, which reviewed them this afternoon and subsequently delivered them to the County. They will be reviewed to determine how many of the signatures are valid Camarillo registered voters. We are told that this process should take a week or so.

Term limits allow new candidates with fresh voices and new ideas representative of the evolving nature of the City citizens to have a viable opportunity to be elected, and we are grateful to the voters for believing in this cause.

Long-time incumbency decays progress, perpetrates old ideas and furthers a stagnated vision for our city. Term limits will decisively put an end to 20-plus year incumbents and usher in new, fresh, and vibrant leadership in our fine City of Camarillo.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the over 5,300 signatories, as we could not have reached our goal without your support. This is the people’s term limit initiative. Everyone who worked on this is a community volunteer who wants to improve Camarillo. They have worked countless hours and talked to thousands of fellow residents to get the needed signatures. We couldn’t have done it without them, either. Our cause is championed by citizens for citizens, without any political influence, and we are grateful for the community’s support.

I once spoke to a Michigan state employee. He told me that he repeatedly saw newly elected candidates that had such great goals for their accomplisments. And after the first 2 terms every one of them were playing the politics game and forgot their original goals. Terrific idea for term limits.
