Camarillo City Council authorize ANOTHER Airport attorney

    by Chris Bailey

15 September 2021, Ventura County California

In a public meeting called in the ZOOM format, the Camarillo City Council voted 5-0 to put one more attorney on the problem. In a well practiced description of the issues the Camarillo City Council holds dear, city attorney Brian A Pierik recited them over, as justification for the hire of another private council, a Mr Daniel Reimer. As previously reported in Citizens Journal, the Camarillo Airport Joint Powers Agreement is a 1976 document that includes a perpetuity clause as well as a clause that both government entities must agree before any changes can occur with the JPA.

There was no discussion of this expenditure authorization before the vote, with the exception of the review of the points of contention between the city and the County of Ventura.

There was an Ad Hoc Committee formed to review “All Camarillo Airport matters” in late April 2021, and a $43,000 expenditure authorized by the Camarillo City Council at the recommendation of this same Ad Hoc Committee in June 2021, which is to be used to survey the citizens of Camarillo to know their real and current vision for the future of Camarillo’s influence over airport operations. This decision appears to be ahead of the completion of the Citizen Survey, which has no public mention since the decision to perform the survey in late June 2021.
