Camarillo City Hall to Close | City Services Still Available

Camarillo, California – Camarillo City Hall will close to the public, effective Thursday, March 19 until April 1, 2020, upon which time the closure will be reevaluated in coordination with Ventura County Public Health directives. There will be no interruption of police, fire, water, sewer, or trash services, during this time. City services will be available online, over the phone, and some planning and permitting services will be available by appointment only.

In a special meeting on March 17, 2020, the Camarillo City Council ratified EOC Director Order No. 20-1 for COVID-19 and made critical decisions on City building closures and event cancellations in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency. “Our City teams are working hard to respond to new circumstances, get information to the community, and ensure the protection of our community’s health,” said City Manager Dave Norman. These determinations will be reviewed by the City Council on a regular and as-needed basis to timely respond to rapidly changing conditions, but will otherwise remain in effect until further notice.

Camarillo City Hall, Public Works Corporate Yard, and Sanitary District Offices

Closed to the public, but will be fully staffed. The following City services are available online and by phone, or by appointment as indicated:

    Planning, Inspection, and Permitting Services:

    Camarillo Public Library

    • Closed until the health emergency is declared over by the Ventura County Public Health Officer.
    • The Friends of the Library Bookstore and the on-site Giant Steps Café will also be closed during this time.
    • All events and meetings in the Community Room are cancelled.
    • If either the PVSD or OUHSD school districts resume classes during the health emergency, the Library will accommodate the needs of students to check out materials on a limited, controlled access basis to limit the number of students using the Library at any one time in an effort to maintain social distancing.
    • Online materials are available: http://camarillolibrary.org/content/closure-notice
    • Materials can be returned in the drop box outside of the Camarillo Library.
    • No fines and fees will be assessed during this time period.

     Farmer’s Market

    • Will re-open beginning March 21 with food vendors only.
    • Craft vendors are not permitted.
    • Livingston Memorial will implement several social distancing measures, including positioning staff at entrances, instructing customers about social distancing, distributing flyers with best health practices, and making hand sanitizer readily available.
    • This determination was made by the City Council because the CDPH Guidelines currently exempt shopping at a store or mall from social distancing requirements, and the Farmer’s Market allows people access to healthy food under the more controlled social distancing education and enforcement imposed by Livingston Memorial.

    Camarillo Ranch

    • All School Tours, House Tours and public events are cancelled until further notice.
    • All weddings and private events have been postponed or cancelled.

    Other Important Resources

    • Camarillo business owners asking if the Ventura County Public Health closures apply to their business, call the Ventura County Public Health Department: (805) 981-5201.
    • Senior Support Line (Camarillo Health Care District): (800) 235-9980.

We will inform the community of any changes to these facility closures and event cancellations.

As the current public health emergency evolves, we encourage everyone to continue practicing the CDC guidelines for health and safety during flu season which include:

    • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
    • Maintain a six-foot minimum separation is recommended.
    • Wash hands with soap and water often for 20 seconds minimum.
    • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Do not shake hands, bump elbows, touch toes – just say hello and wave.
    • Cover your mouth/nose with your elbow (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
    • If you become sick, stay home. Stay away from work, school and other people.
    • Wipe down surfaces like counters and doorknobs frequently.
    • Anyone experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (dry persistent cough; high temperature; shortness of breath; muscle fatigue or weakness) should call their health provider first before going to a medical office so that appropriate precautions can be taken.
