Camarillo City Manager Appoints Finance Director

Camarillo, California – City Manager Greg Ramirez has appointed current Interim Director of Finance, Mark Uribe, to the position of Director of Finance, effective November 2, 2020.

“Mark has done an admirable job,” explained Mr. Ramirez, “serving a dual capacity since March as Interim Director of Finance without an Assistant Director. Not only in handling the budget process through COVID-19 and tracking up to the Quarterly report, Mr. Uribe was able to deliver updated policies that had been in development for years, all while managing the numbers involved with the City’s finances.”

Mr. Uribe was appointed Interim Director of Finance on March 30, 2020, following the retirement of the Finance Director, and temporary placement of an independent contractor. In addition to the budget and policy updates, as Interim Director, Mr. Uribe successfully assisted with the implementation of the Open Gov technology application providing financial transparency and financial reporting. He continues to lead his team through the fiscal operating challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With over 25 years of municipal finance experience, Mr. Uribe began his career with Moreland & Associates, a CPA firm specializing in audits of local governments. He has worked at four cities throughout Southern California, including serving nine years as the Assistant Director of Finance for the City of Camarillo, and the past seven months as Interim Director of Finance. “He is a team player, with astute attention to detail,” explained City Manager Ramirez, “and is trusted to take good care of our City finances.”

Mr. Uribe is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO), California Municipal Treasurers Association (CMTA), and California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO).

Now that the Finance Director position has been filled, the City is seeking to fill the current vacancy of Assistant Director of Finance.
