Camarillo Deputies and Sheriff Major Crime Detectives make arrests in Hart overdose death

advice arial, viagra sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;”>On April 5, 2016, Camarillo Patrol Deputies and Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau responded to the 4500 block of Via Del Sol in Camarillo for a possible overdose death of Joshua Hart.  It was suspected Hart died from an overdose of prescription pills and heroin. Investigators identified Hart’s probable sources of supply as Neil Morales for the pills and Shawn Farron for the heroin.

Detectives from the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit began an investigation of Neil Morales and Shawn Farron. 

On April 26, 2016, a search warrant was served at Morales’ home in the 4500 block of Via Presidio in Camarillo and he was arrested for drug sales.  On May 5, 2016, a search warrant was served at Shawn Farron’s residence in the 500 block of Lantana Street in Camarillo and he was arrested for being under the influence of heroin and drug sales. Evidence was recovered at both locations that was consistent with narcotic activity. 

Charges related to the death of Joshua Hart such as manslaughter and drug dealing resulting in death are pending toxicology results and final determination of death by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

The Camarillo Police Department Special Enforcement Detail and Ventura Police Department assisted in this investigation.

The Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit is a task force made up of members from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Simi Valley Police Department, Thousand Oaks Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation, the California Highway Patrol, the Health Quality Investigation Unit of the California Division of Investigation, and the California Department of Health Care Services. The primary mission of the task force is combatting the transfer of legal prescription medication to the illegal market. In addition, the task force works to identify and stop new trends of abuse among the younger population and investigates overdose deaths due to both prescription medication and illicit drug use.
