Camarillo is Committed to Keeping the Community Informed & Updated During COVID-19

    Social Distancing Remains Critical

The City continues to promote social distancing as a critical step in slowing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Mayor Trembley has filmed video messages and penned letters to the community to emphasize this point, and explain why social distancing practices are critical for the greater good. These videos and letters are posted to the City’s COVID-19 webpage  www.cityofcamarillo.org/covid19 and continue to be shared on the Official Facebook Page (City of Camarillo Government), as well as through the City’s many other messaging channels.

Social distancing signage has been posted in all open businesses and the City has posted social distancing signage at the two City-owned parks: Dizdar Park in Old Town; and Constitution Park next to City Hall. Signs have also been posted along the F-Canyon barranca in Mission Oaks as well as at the entrances to the Calleguas Creek trail. Social distancing signage has been made available on the City’s website for the community to print and post, as needed.

Mental Health & Emotional Support Services

It is imperative that we take care of ourselves and each other during this stressful time. It is more important than ever to monitor your own physical and mental health, as well as safely stay connected to friends and family. Mayor Tony Trembley interviewed Director of Behavioral Health, Dr. Sevet Johnson, and that interview has been made public on the City’s YouTube channel. If you need support, please call the Behavioral Health Hotline at 1-866-998-2243 or visit www.vcbh.org for 24/7 access to support services that will carry you through this difficult time.

    Supporting local businesses

The City is continuously working with essential businesses to implement social distancing measures. The City’s Code Compliance Division visited every grocery store in Camarillo to ensure social distancing measures have been put into place, and provided signage and assistance to approximately 25% of stores who had not already implemented social distancing. We continue to work with businesses during this time, and will do so throughout the recovery period, to ensure proper protocols are in place.

The City’s Economic Development team has created several resources to support local businesses.  These resources and other important information can be found on the City’s COVID-19 webpage, including an Open For Business List and an Employee/Employer Assistance webpage with information and resources that are available at this time.

    Public Engagement Goes Virtual

To enhance public engagement during virtual public meetings, the City has implemented additional features for the public, including the ability to comment live during City Council meetings. This virtual service ensures the City continues to deliver essential community services during the Shelter at Home Order.

Here are the ways you may observe and/or participate in the meeting from the comfort of your home:

    1. You may observe the City Council meeting via the live broadcast on the Local Government Channels – Spectrum Channel 10 and Frontier Channel 29, or via the City’s YouTube channel.

    2. Public comment options:

    a. Email – You may submit comments on a specific agenda item via email to the City Clerk at [email protected]. Please send your email at least one hour prior to the start of the meeting. The City Clerk will print your email and distribute copies to all Councilmembers prior to the meeting.

    b. Phone – You may contact the City Clerk’s Office at (805)388-5397, or by email at [email protected], at least one hour prior to the start of the meeting and provide your name, your phone number and your item of interest. When the Council reaches your item of interest on the agenda, we will call you at the phone number you provided during the time for public comments. Your comments will be limited to three minutes.

    Stay Informed & Updated

We encourage you and all of our community members to stay informed and updated by visiting the City’s COVID-19 webpage: www.cityofcamarillo.org/covid19, or follow “City of Camarillo Government” on Facebook. To receive updates from the City regarding COVID-19, please register for email alerts by signing up on the Notify Me! Form on the City’s website.

If you have suggestions on how we may better communicate with you, please take the Communication Survey that is open on the City’s website. We are continually trying to improve our public outreach efforts and are committed to keeping our community informed and updated.
