Camarillo Man Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder in Oxnard Stabbing
VENTURA, California – District Attorney Gregory D. Totten announced that a jury found Nicholas Delgado (DOB 12/21/88), formerly of Camarillo, guilty of first-degree murder on December 19, 2017. The jury also found true the special allegation that Delgado personally used a knife during the commission of the murder. Delgado had also been charged with a prior strike allegation to which he pled guilty in 2008.
Delgado had been to the victim’s apartment complex the day before the murder and was interrupted while trying to force entry into a different resident’s apartment. The next day, on September 25, 2013, Delgado again returned to the apartment complex, broke down the door to the victim’s apartment and stabbed the victim 16 times with a knife. The victim and his wife were asleep in their bed when the attack occurred. After committing the murder, Delgado fled the scene.
Delgado’s last known area of residence was Camarillo but was transient at the time of the murder. After a diligent and thorough investigation by the Oxnard Police Department, Delgado was arrested for the murder later the same day.
Sentencing for Delgado is scheduled on January 18, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in courtroom 46 of the Ventura Superior Court, County of Ventura. Delgado faces a maximum sentence of 51 years to life in prison.
