Camarillo, California – The much-anticipated traffic signals on Ponderosa Drive, at Earl Joseph Drive and at Camino Tierra Santa, are now fully operational.
The last several weeks have been busy with all of the precision work that goes into turning on a traffic signal. Asphalt repairs were made and conflicting striping on the pavement was removed to make way for final striping, which has been installed. Traffic signals heads were uncovered and rotated to a designated location in order to be visible to drivers. All traffic signs have been rotated to be visible to drivers. And, video detection for the signals has been precisely calibrated.
Both signals are online and fully operational. The new signals are ADA compliant with audible pedestrian push buttons. And, the LED safety lights are energy efficient. Southern California Edison will remove the two redundant street lamps at Earl Joseph Drive. At this time, we expect SCE to complete this work by the week of June 8, 2020.
An important reminder to all drivers who approach an intersection with a traffic signal—if the signal is dark (without lights) or flashing red, the intersection must be treated as an all-way stop.
