Camarillo PD Encourages Residents to Participate in the Neighborhood Watch Program
Due to the recent increase in property crimes occurring within the city of Camarillo, the Camarillo Police Department is encouraging residents to participate in the Neighborhood Watch program.
Neighborhood Watch is one of the oldest and most effective crime prevention programs in the country, bringing citizens together with law enforcement to deter crime and make communities safer. Neighborhood Watch programs fight the isolation and separation that crime creates and feeds upon. They build bonds among area residents, businesses and law enforcement, which helps reduce thefts, burglaries and robberies. The program calls upon residents to step forward and assist the police in organizing the community into a cohesive unit working toward the goal of building safer, crime-free neighborhoods. Neighborhood Watch groups discuss neighborhood crime problems with the objective of developing solutions to local problems. The Camarillo Police Department supplies crime information to neighborhood watch organizations and instructs these groups in various crime prevention techniques.
Camarillo residents interested in participating in the Neighborhood Watch program or starting one in your area can call our Camarillo Police Department Crime Prevention Officer, Senior Deputy Virginia Tinoco at 805-388-5130.
