Camarillo Rotary Raises Funds for Emergency Relief

The Rotary Club of Camarillo raised $10,000 for Thomas Fire Relief.  Half was donated when they “passed the hat” at a meeting in January and those funds were matched by their Foundation.  The check was given to the Downtown Ventura organization, the umbrella group that monitors funds directed to the Ventura Education Partnership for Thomas Fire victims.

Rotary District Governor John Weiss said “These donations remind us of the generosity so often shown by our members.”

A similar amount was raised for victims of Hurricane Harvey last year.  Those  funds went to two families for basic reconstruction.  Their houses were mucked out and gutted and with Rotary’s help they again have livable homes.

Foundation President Al Lowe said, “I’m very proud of our Club for sending a check for $10,000 to Houston for disaster relief.”

The goal of the Camarillo Rotary Foundation is to improve the quality of life of  people of the Greater Camarillo area and our Global Community.  The club raises funds through annual events like the upcoming Care for Kids Golf Classic to be held on July 16.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders providing humanitarian service and building goodwill.  Camarillo Rotary meets Wednesdays at noon.  For more information about Rotary, see www.camarillorotary.org
