Camarillo woman sentenced to 30 days in Jail for Insurance Fraud

Brenda Garcia  (DOB 04/06/75), of Camarillo, was sentenced to 30 days in jail, placed on probation for one year, and ordered to pay restitution. Her jail sentence was stayed pending her performance on probation. Garcia previously pled guilty on April 1, 2021, to felony auto insurance fraud.

On December 19, 2018, Garcia’s mother was involved in a traffic accident while driving Garcia’s automobile. Garcia’s mother was not a covered driver on her insurance policy. Shortly after the accident, Garcia falsely reported to AAA Insurance Company (AAA) that she was driving the car during the collision. In her false claim, Garcia described an accident where she was never present. An investigation by AAA and the District Attorney’s Office Auto Insurance Fraud Unit, determined Garcia was actually at work at the time of the accident and falsified her timecard to support the fraudulent claim.
