Candidate Statement- Re-elect Bryan MacDonald to Oxnard City Council
Bryan MacDonald’s statement about what he has and will continue to focus on as a councilman of Oxnard –
“It seems like just yesterday that I was sworn into office as an Oxnard City 
Councilman and here I am approaching the end of my second term. It has been a whirlwind and, as a community, we have gone through a lot. I believe that my experience, responsible voting record and accountability make me the best candidate to represent you. I am seeking a third term as an Oxnard City Councilman and I would love your support in that effort.
Some Facts About Me:
Veteran of the Oxnard Police Department – 30 years of service to that agency starting out as a police cadet and retiring as an Assistant Police Chief
Adjunct Professor at Ventura College for the last 30 plus years. Teaching in the Criminal Justice field and currently assigned as an Instructor of Record at the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center in Camarillo
Married to Lorraine MacDonald and we celebrated 31 years of marriage in August.

My Campaign:
Public Safety – We need to have a robust and self-sufficient public safety presence. The fact is that we do not.
Fire Department staffing, on a per-capita basis, ranks near the bottom of all cities in Ventura County.
Police Department staffing has been cut by about 25 positions, sworn and non-sworn. The police department budget has had over a million dollars removed.
The average wait time for non-life threatening calls can be up to four hours.
Economic Vitality/Job Creation – Via “Economic Gardening”
Work with successful established local businesses that are already here in Oxnard.
Find ways to help them grow and that growth will stimulate other business growth and development, creating more jobs.
When people living and working in Oxnard spend their money in the community, we all benefit!
Restoring Trust in City Hall – Fairness for Taxpayers and our City Staff.
I did not support the most recent utility rate increases, not because we do not need increases, but because I was not convinced we could be good stewards of taxpayer money.
I voted against our current budget and cutting employee pay, because we don’t have firm accounting numbers on which to base these life changing decisions.”
