Candidate With Women’s Studies Degree To Run For Ventura City Council

    News Release

VENTURA – Ventura City Councilmember, Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios is formally announcing her candidacy for the Ventura City Council, District 4 seat.

“With more than 20 years of public service in Ventura, I am running to continue our work on the City Council as a representative for District 4,” said Sanchez-Palacios. “Since being appointed a year and a half ago, I was able to hit the ground running and have worked alongside stakeholders, constituents, and community organizations to ensure residents have a voice in our community to work on sustainable solutions.

Such work includes our new streamlining ordinance, firefighters strategic plan, and Main Street Moves. I look forward to completing the work that provides solutions to issues that affect Ventura families such as affordable housing, homelessness, and economic development.”

“Jeannette has shown us how efficient and effective she can be on the Ventura City Council,” said Former District 4 Councilmember and current Ventura County District Attorney, Erik Nasarenko. “She has tackled some of the most difficult challenges in a very thoughtful way. I have full confidence she will continue to be a tireless advocate for the residents of District 4.”

Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios resides in the city of Ventura with her husband of more than 25 years, where they are raising 2 children. Jeannette holds degrees in Public Administration, Women’s Studies, and Political Science from the California State University – Northridge (CSUN), University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), and Santa Monica Community College (SMC).

Jeannette has worked as a Political and Communications director for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 and as District Director for Assemblymember Das Williams (AD-37). Jeannette also volunteers for several Ventura County organizations that advocate for immigration issues, women and children’s issues, homelessness, and veteran’s issues. Jeannette currently works as District Director for Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (AD-44).

Jeannette Sanchez-Palacios is a candidate for the Ventura City Council, District 4, which covers the eastern portion of Ventura, Saticoy.
